However, I believe that polycrystalline materials are facing a major challenge at the moment, namely the handling of the by-product silicon tetrachloride. At present, the consumption of silicon tetrachloride in China is fixed; to use a large amount of silicon tetrachloride, it is necessary to convert it into trichlorosilane. However, this technology is not yet mature in China and is mainly under control of some countries in Europe and America. The method we use here involves carrying out both the synthesis of trichlorosilane and the hydrogenation of silicon tetrachloride in the same furnace.
