In the next 20 years, China’s annual deficit in natural gas consumption will range from 107.5 billion to 176.5 billion cubic meters. Before 2015, China’s coastal areas planned to build liquefied natural gas facilities with a total capacity of nearly 70 million tons per year. LNG (liquefied natural gas) is affected not only by resources but also by construction costs, transportation costs, investment, fluctuations in gas prices, and **uncertainty. Therefore, to meet future natural gas demand, China, while developing domestic natural gas resources and importing a certain amount of LNG, makes use of its abundant coal resources to actively develop coal-to-natural gas technology. By transporting this gas via long-distance pipelines from remote coal-rich areas to national consumption markets, this approach holds strategic significance in terms of energy security and energy conservation and emission reduction. The coal-to-natural gas process has a simple flow structure, and the technology is mature and reliable ； Low consumption and low investment required. Considering factors such as investment, consumption, and thermal efficiency, the Lurgi gasification is the best choice for coal-based synthetic natural gas gasification processes. Furthermore, considering the co-production of coal-to-natural gas along with methanol, dimethyl ether, ammonia, etc., the economic benefits will be better and the risk resistance will be stronger.
