As a result, the moisture content is reduced to 1.5%–2% in a very short time, and the specific surface area of the coal increases several times, which helps to improve its reactivity. Secondly, advanced and efficient molybdenum catalysts are used, namely ammonium molybdate and molybdenum trioxide. The catalyst addition amount is 0.02%–0.05%, and 85%–95% of the molybdenum in this catalyst can be recovered. Thirdly, for highly active lignite, the liquefaction pressure is low, which reduces capital investment and operating costs, and the manufacturing of equipment is simpler. Thanks to the use of molybdenum catalysts, the liquefaction reaction pressure for highly active Russian lignite can be reduced to 6 MPa–10 MPa, thereby reducing investment and energy consumption, lowering costs, and improving reliability and safety.
