Discussion on the type of generator slag discharge valve

May I ask: Which companies still use manual plug valves for the generator slag discharge valves? Why not switch to pneumatic gate valves? Please discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using each type of valve!
Among the manufacturers we have worked with and those I have visited, it seems that manual ball valves are not used, as it would represent a waste of manpower. Pneumatic gate valves or ball valves are used more frequently, and the cylinders should be chosen to be sufficiently large, which facilitates slag discharge.
Why choose a plug valve? Moreover, the application range of plug valves is also limited; when an acetylene generator discharges slag, the slurry contains a large amount of ferrosilicon pieces, and if a plug valve gets stuck in such situations, it can be difficult to deal with the issue. Therefore, it is recommended to use pneumatic knife gate valves! However, that comrade knows a company that is quite specialized in producing discharge valves for such acetylene generators; could you recommend it? Thank you!
Our company uses gate valves. Manual or pneumatic is available

These days, many in the industry have replaced the slag discharge valves with two automatic ones. I believe this is not safe, as the valves could get damaged when the quality of calcium carbide is poor; after all, automatic valves cannot detect the presence of foreign objects. Using one manual valve and one automatic valve may increase the workload for the operators, but it also improves the safety level, which I think is a worthwhile approach.
