Environmental protection is another major issue facing the rising polyurethane industry. As polyurethane materials are used more and more widely in the national economy and their usage is increasing, the recycling and reuse of their waste has also attracted increasing attention. Waste polyurethane mainly includes corner scraps from manufacturers, mold overflows, polyurethane foam and elastomers from scrapped cars and refrigerators, waste shoe soles, waste PU leather, and old spandex clothing. There are currently three main methods for recycling polyurethane: Physical law, chemical law, energy law. Regarding the recycling of waste polyurethane products, the European Union took the lead in promulgating laws and regulations for the recycling of waste plastics from electrical appliances. The principle is that whoever produces the products recycles them. Our country should also speed up the recycling of polyurethane products, especially foam products. The recycling of polyurethane is undoubtedly beneficial to environmental protection and resource utilization, but the main question is whether there is economic benefit from recycling waste polyurethane. Due to the large amount of polyurethane used and the recent high raw material prices, its waste recycling market prospects are promising. However, the recycling methods used in the past are generally not very economical and have not been widely promoted. Therefore, the development of an economically feasible recycling method has become a hot topic in the industry.
