May I ask how the cooling water pipe of a pump is generally connected? We use DN25 steel pipes with an outer diameter of 32 mm for our water pipes, which are led to the vicinity of the pump; whereas the inlet for the pump’s cooling water has an outer diameter of around 10 mm. How should these be connected? Which type of valve is better?
Pipe diameter change; connection is made by threading the pipes (flange connection is also possible). Since the pipeline is small, a ball valve is a better choice.
Since the pipes are relatively small, it is convenient to use bell-type connectors with diameter changes for connection. The valves also use cartridge-type ball valves.
For pumps with such a small cooling water inlet, threaded connections are generally not used; instead, short fittings with flanges are employed. For such openings, we use rubber hoses with embedded metal wires as cooling water pipes; this serves two purposes: first, to ensure that the flow of cooling water can be clearly observed, and second, to prevent the pipes from being flattened ; In the other case, a threaded short fitting is connected to the main cooling water pipe, and then a copper nozzle is used; this nozzle is actually a small valve as well. One end of it is threaded and connects to the main pipe, while the other end serves as a connection to the pump’s cooling water inlet.
