Our hydrogenation unit is being commissioned with water for machine pumps. During the commissioning of the high-pressure hydrocracking feed pump, the vibration in the inlet and outlet pipelines was above the acceptable levels; the relevant personnel from the design institute were also at a loss. As a technical specialist, I don’t know how to resolve this issue I would appreciate the advice of experts?
It is possible that water hammer has occurred; water hammer results from sudden changes in flow velocity due to unstable water flow in pressurized pipelines. Your problem is caused by quickly adjusting the outlet valve; slowing down the adjustment will resolve it. If not, it is necessary to check whether the equipment foundation is secure and whether the piping installation is proper; if there are significant issues, the piping needs to be reinstalled. There should not be too many elbows at the pump outlet, as this can also lead to excessive vibration.
Is the support for the pipeline inappropriate? Including the support position, supporting force, etc
Vent the gas inside the pipe, open and close the valve slowly; add supports at the elbows, and avoid long spans for straight pipes
