Changes in the forum

To Kaichuan, I’m still a newcomer. I registered as a member of Haichuan by chance. Although it hasn’t been long since I registered, I have noticed some changes on the forum: there are increasingly more posts asking for help or seeking information, and some of those requests are quite ordinary. These questions could have found answers in other sources or could have been solved through one’s own knowledge and effort; it is inappropriate for the asker to refuse to solve them on their own and instead seek help from others, which also results in the questions posed lacking depth and value. Furthermore, some questioners have too \"specific\" aims for asking questions – they only want to know the answer, ignoring the needs of those who reply and read the posts – namely, to broaden their horizons and acquire knowledge. I think that over time, this will reduce the professionalism and standards of the forum, and at the same time discourage experienced users from responding, leading to a loss of popularity. At the same time, posts made merely to meet a quota or to seek information encourage people to only take without being willing to give. It wasn’t like this when I came here before! When I first arrived, I thought there were many experts in the forum, as well as many useful posts and replies; I learned a lot. Everyone was willing to share what they knew, and they were also quite supportive of newcomers. . . . . . . Ugh, I really don’t want Kaichuan to turn into a sea filled with “water” one day! :(
What the original poster mentioned does show some signs of this issue; indeed, some request posts are extremely simple, and there are often already answers available on the forum. The person who posts such a question can find the answer in just 1 second by doing a quick search (such posts are particularly common in the troubleshooting section and the tutorial area). We warmly welcome everyone to submit constructive suggestions and requests for help, so that we can all improve through discussion and debate. We also ask that people think carefully or do some research before posting, in order to avoid posting merely for the sake of posting; this is the foundation for the healthy development of the forum.
Some recent activities have also contributed to this trend. I don’t want to go into too much detail regarding their advantages and disadvantages here. I am opposed to those activities that have nothing to do with the development of the Haichuan Forum; they are merely initiated by enthusiastic moderators, without them realizing that such actions are guiding things in a bad direction and sowing negative influences.:) I agree with what the original poster said – it’s time for Haichuan to take action, to implement reforms and measures to curb this negative trend. The sea needs fish; while an abundance of water is important, it is the fish that give the sea its vitality:lol
What’s wrong with a request for help post? Especially in posts seeking technical help, it’s impossible for one person to know everything; there are certain things that require experience gained over time through work and study. For example, no matter how good your academic grades are, you might feel at a loss when you first start working in a factory or design firm, because there are many things in practice that cannot be learned from books. Bringing things that are not clear or somewhat ambiguous to the forum for discussion allows one to gain unexpected knowledge or tips, and it helps to deepen understanding of certain concepts, which is useful for a technician to improve their skills more quickly. Secondly, it can boost popularity, which is also very beneficial for the development of the forum. Therefore, I believe that it is necessary to strongly encourage seeking technical help or conducting discussions on forums.
It’s not that posting requests for help is a bad thing, but many students forget to try searching first to see if their question has already been answered on the forum. Such simple and basic posts filling up the forum are certainly not something everyone would appreciate. What the original poster is suggesting is simply that people should be aware of this tendency – to search first before asking questions, to see if there’s already an answer available. If the topic has already been discussed on the forum, there’s no need to post a new thread
The question raised by the original poster is somewhat representative. Moderators also find it difficult to deal with such posts; issues that could be easily resolved using search tools still require a technical assistance post, to which enthusiastic members then reply. Often, they don’t know whether to delete such posts or not, and in most cases they decide to keep them in the forum. It’s painful to see such posts reduce the overall technical quality of the forum.
