It should be. The operating steps for the pump can be referred to those of a centrifugal pump.

In the case of a cryopump, there should be three pipelines at the outlet: one for the exhaust gas, one for the circulation line which is used during operation, and another for the quench valve, which is used when the pump is acting as a backup.
The question posed by the original poster is quite strange. Since it is rich methanol, there should be pressure; it can reach the downstream system through natural pressure drop or the difference in liquid levels, without the need for a pump. At least, a well-designed or correctly designed low-temperature methanol wash unit is like this. Apart from that, the answer on the 5th floor is basically correct.
I think what was said on the 6th floor is incorrect. For methanol-rich liquids, in cases where the pressure in devices like hydrogen sulfide concentration towers is very low (around 0.1 MPa), it’s not possible for the pressure to naturally drop enough so that the liquid can reach the regeneration tower (where the pressure is around 0.2 MPa). A pump is needed to increase the pressure, and the liquid must pass through various devices before it can reach the regeneration process. It’s not as simple as what you said! @ Regarding the question raised by the original poster, I think the main function is exhaust; the answer on floor 5 is already very detailed! A methanol-rich pump is essentially a centrifugal pump; it’s just used to transport methanol at low temperatures, and its operation is the same as that of a regular centrifugal pump! Steps to start the methanol-rich pump: (1) Check and confirm that the oil level of the bearing lubricant is normal. (2) Confirm that both the pump inlet pipe drain and the pump body drain are closed. (3) Open the root valve of the pressure gauge at the pump inlet and outlet. (4) Open the pump inlet valve. (5) Vent the pump outlet vent valve and the bottom valve of the liquid collection funnel. (6) Rotate the pump shaft to check for any sticking, and close the exhaust valve when no air comes out of the exhaust port. (7) Open the minimum flow valve (automatic recirculation valve). (8) Press the pump start button; check that the pump runs smoothly, rotates in the correct direction, and its bearing temperature is normal, then gradually open the outlet valve.
The difference between a methanol-rich pump and other pumps is that it is a centrifugal pump designed for pumping low-temperature liquids; it has an additional cold standby pipeline, and there’s nothing mysterious about it.
