A static slag filter is installed below the downcomer of the gasifier; it is said to be used for filtering slag. But could such an arrangement cause slag bridging?
Generally speaking, when the cooling water is not distributed evenly, it is easy for slag to form bridges in the downcomer. I’m not sure if the static slag filter mentioned by the original poster refers to a horizontally arranged mesh structure; I think such a setup could be even more problematic than bridge formation, as it can easily lead to blockages in the downcomers.
The argument on the 2nd floor makes sense. But I think the original poster might have a misunderstanding; a static slag filter installed below the downcomer of the vaporization furnace should be placed outside the downcomer, and its main function is to keep the quenching chamber stable, similar to the role of the upcomer. Of course, it can also serve to filter out slag to some extent.
