It was mainly the nitrogen expansion refrigeration process designed in the initial stage by Hangyang; this process could produce ultra-high-pressure nitrogen. The opening ratio at the bottom of the tower was too high, which led to liquid leakage during operation. As a result, the oxygen extraction rate dropped to around 80% of the intended capacity. The plant was shut down for repairs, and it seems that the modifications were successful.
Nitrogen expansion process, Hangyang Oxygen! The revolution is not yet complete; comrades must keep striving. There are no issues with the nitrogen expansion process in Linde’s air separation units; not a single unit in Yueyang Dongting, Yuntianhua, or Shenhua has any problems.
The problem in Anqing has nothing to do with the nitrogen expansion process; it’s a matter of scale – the equipment is too large, and it **exceeds Hangyang’s design capabilities at that time**. Let this serve as a lesson regarding the localization of large-scale air separation equipment; I hope the costs incurred were not in vain (given Baosteel’s successful implementation of such technology, there are indeed some benefits to be gained). Our national industry... sigh.
