Help! ! I have worked in the process engineering field within the pharmaceutical and chemical industries for 8 years, and I am now about to enter the oil industry. I feel quite unfamiliar with it; I would appreciate some guidance from those who are experienced in this field. What are the most important aspects of process engineering or piping work in the oil industry? What differs from my previous fields of work? How can I integrate into this industry as smoothly as possible?

For example, after crude oil undergoes atmospheric and vacuum distillation, it’s important to know where each component goes and what its purpose is. It’s like a big tree – one should start by examining its roots
Start with the most basic things first – what is gasoline? What is diesel? What are the main refineries in the country? Major crude oil producers? What are the notable characteristics of crude oil from various producing regions? Wait.
I think the most straightforward approach is to find information on a relatively large refinery, starting from the first processing unit for crude oil, and to see which units each type of material goes to, what processing takes place there, and what the end product of those units is. Once you understand all of this, you will also have an understanding of what the petroleum industry does.
I think the first step is to decide that you want to focus on that area and develop in that direction; after that, get familiar with the relevant rules and guidelines. It would be best to find a good teacher to guide you, as that will make things go faster
