DKRW Advanced Fuels announced in late December 2007 that it would invest $2 billion in Carbon County, Wyoming, to build the Medicine Bow fuel and power project; this coal-to-gasoline facility is intended to produce 15,000 to 20,000 barrels of gasoline per day initially. ExxonMobil will transfer its Methanol-to-Gasoline (MTG) technology, which has seen further improvements since it was first put into commercial use in New Zealand 20 years ago. The Medicine Bow project will receive a transfer of GE’s coal gasification technology, and the CO2 generated during this process will be sold for compression use in Wyoming’s markets aimed at improving oil field recovery rates. .
