Some glasses are prone to corrosion in alkaline conditions; are there any substances that can act as corrosion inhibitors?
The main component of glass is SiO2; it is a weakly acidic non-metallic material. Alkaline environments cause slow corrosion of it, and this effect is more pronounced under the combined influence of temperature and pressure； If a corrosion inhibitor is used, an acidic medium can be employed to neutralize it and adjust the pH value to below 7 ； Additionally, cyanofluoric acid is highly corrosive to glass and cannot be used.
