I heard that Dalian Chemical has an indirect methylene dimoxide production technology, which is currently being used in the 100,000-ton methylene dimoxide production facility in Hebei Zhongjie. The indirect methanol-to-dimethyl ether process involves the dehydration of methanol, and this technology is already mature. The Southwest Chemical Research Institute possesses mature technologies. This technology is not complex; facilities with a capacity of 100,000 tons have already been built in China. I was already driving last year. The technology in Dalian is more or less the same.
I know a bit about the situation: there is a plant with a capacity of 400,000 tons under construction in Guangdong, and another plant with a capacity of 200,000 tons under construction in Fujian. I heard that both are set to start operating this year.
Newao Group’s plant in Zhangjiagang, with a capacity of 200,000 tons per unit per year, is currently the largest of its kind in the world. The technology used there was developed by Newao itself; its energy consumption is at least 20% lower than that of the Southwest Research Institute, and it performs better in every other aspect as well. This technology has now been exported to Egypt (the negotiations are almost complete).
