PPG Zhongcai Jinjing Fiberglass to Add New Production Capacity – On January 29, 2008, PPG Industries and Zhongcai Jinjing Fiberglass Co., Ltd. jointly announced that the boards of directors of both companies had approved the construction of a third tank furnace at their joint manufacturing facility in Zibo, namely PPG Zhongcai Jinjing Fiberglass Co., Ltd. The company mainly produces glass fiber reinforced materials, with both parties holding 50/50 shares. This investment is expected to increase the annual production capacity per spool of yarn by 60,000 tons. The third pool furnace is expected to come online by the end of 2008 or early 2009. Victoria M. Holt, Senior Vice President of PPG’s Glass and Fiberglass Division, said, “PPG is pleased to continue supporting the growth of the global composite materials industry by expanding its production capacity in Asia.” Over the past few years, global demand for single yarns has maintained double-digit growth. For example, PPG’s HYBON single-strand direct glass fiber yarn is designed for such a rapidly growing market. We expect this growth trend to continue, especially in the application markets for wind power generation and energy infrastructure facilities. " Mr. Tan Zhongming, director of Sinoma Jinjing Co., Ltd., said: \"We need a large amount of glass fiber reinforcement materials to meet the growing demands of our clients around the world, especially in the production of wind turbine blades, ships, and composite pipes.\" The new tank furnace will enable PPG Zhongcai Jinjing Fiberglass Company to meet customers’ growing demands more effectively. " Meanwhile, the Zibo factory also obtained ISO9001:2000 certification last month thanks to its excellent quality system and production processes. Ms. Holt said, “Receiving this certification demonstrates that the Zibo factory has established a standardized quality system, which supports PPG’s goal of delivering high-quality products to best serve its customers and remain competitive in today’s global market.” " In addition to the joint venture in Zibo, China, operated by Sinopec Jinjing and which supplies thermoset fiberglass materials to the global market, PPG also has two joint ventures in this region with South Asia Plastics Group, providing products for the industries of electronic fiberglass, specialty yarns, and fiberglass-reinforced materials in Asia. In 1991, PPG and South Asia Plastics Group jointly established Taiwan Bicheng Co., Ltd. in Chiayi, Taiwan, and in 2003 they set up Bicheng Glass Fiber (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. in Kunshan.
