A continuous alkylation process in which an alkylatable compound and an alkylating agent are reacted in the presence of a solid acidic alkylation catalyst to form an alkylate and the catalyst is regenerated, said process comprising at least two catalyst-containing reactors located in zone A ( 4A, 5A) and at least two catalyst-containing reactors (4B, 5B) located in zone B. In this method, (a) the zone A reactor and the zone B reactor cycle between the alkylation mode and the mild regeneration mode, and (b) the alkylation mode includes: introducing an alkylating agent into the first reactor (4A, 4B) of the zone through which the alkylatable compound passes, reacting a portion of the alkylatable compound with at least a portion of the alkylating agent to produce a product stream containing the alkylate, and conducting at least one more step in a downstream reactor (5A, 5B) of the same zone using a stream containing the product stream containing the alkylate instead of the alkylatable compound. This operation once produces an effluent containing alkylate in an alkylation mode, wherein the product stream containing said alkylate may or may not be subjected to a prior batch separation in which a portion of the alkylate is withdrawn, (c) a mild regeneration mode comprising contacting a solid acidic alkylation catalyst with hydrogen in each of at least two reactors of the zone, (d) recovering the alkylate.
Are corrosion-resistant ALLOY20 special nickel alloy pipes, fittings and flanges commonly used in sulfuric acid alkylation units? The material is: ASTM/ASME SB366 WP20CB, 20cb-3, ASME SB729 N08020, ASME SB462, etc. It seems that the material is replaced by 316L.
