We had an accident during load reduction. A water cooler at the outlet of the methanator leaked, causing the water cooler to not work. The water could not be separated at a temperature of 115 degrees. In the synthesis process, the separator oil and water were not drained in time. When loading, all means were used. However, the synthesis temperature did not rise. After adding a small amount, the temperature dropped and the rear electric furnace heated up. Have you encountered similar problems? Are there any better preventive measures?
The synthesis process is high pressure. Can I use an intermittent automatic drainage device?
Reduce the load of the electric furnace for production. It should be back to normal within 24 hours after the water cooling is repaired.
When the water from the methanation water cooler enters the synthesis system, it is recommended that the synthesis gas oil separator be enlarged for leakage discharge, the system should be operated at low load, and the electric furnace should be heated to maintain the furnace temperature. If there are synthetic refined gases from other processes, it would be better if the production could be connected.
Reduce the load of the electric furnace for production. After the water cooling is repaired, the circulating hydrogen reaches 75% for about 24 hours (the tower is opened and the water vapor is vented to take away the water vapor), and it should return to normal.
Did the purification overpressure during load shedding cause the heat exchange tube of the methanation water cooler to collapse? Does your factory use centrifugal compressors? The reciprocating compressor will definitely overheat, and the water will be discharged from the separator in each section, otherwise it will hit the cylinder. Basically agree with the point above. If this situation can be repaired during production, the load can be reduced and production can be continued. The synthetic separator can be continuously discharged to minimize water entrainment. After the repair is completed, the hydrogen production will be high, and the catalyst for water vapor oxidation will be restored. If the treatment is timely, the activity will not be affected at all. There is no need to vent the tower after opening, as a small amount of water will be taken away with the liquid ammonia.
I've heard of this happening, but we've never encountered it
The system is running at low load, the electric furnace is heated, and the catalyst temperature is increased by 20 degrees for a while.
When charging an electric furnace, the electric furnace must be fully pushed, the circulation volume increased, and the airspeed increased to the maximum according to the resultant temperature.
