Unlike the power industry, in companies in the petrochemical sector, the classification of low- and medium-pressure steam is determined based on the pressure levels already existing within the facility. For example, low-pressure steam has a pressure of around 1.0 Mpa, while medium-pressure steam has a pressure of around 3.5 Mpa; these are relative values
The classifications vary across different fields: low-pressure steam has a pressure of 5 kgf and a temperature of around 150 degrees, while medium-pressure steam has a pressure of 10 kgf and a temperature of around 180 degrees
Different units use different terms; in our unit, medium pressure is 3.3 MPA
Each unit is different; it’s up to you to define it. In my setup, the medium pressure is 1.0 Mpa and the low pressure is 0.35 Mpa
There is no absolute definition for this, but steam with a pressure below 1 MPa is generally considered low-pressure steam; steam at around 2.5 MPa is classified as medium-pressure steam, while steam at 5 MPa or higher is considered high-pressure steam. The specific boundaries depend on industry practices. For example, here we refer to steam at 0.3 MPa and 0.5 MPa as low-pressure steam, steam at 1.3 MPa as medium-pressure steam, and steam at 2.5 MPa and 3.8 MPa as high-pressure steam
