BUTTERFLY VALVE refers to a disc valve; I’m not sure about the term before it.
Exactly, when those two words are put together, it’s impossible to figure out what they mean
Clamped butterfly valve, with WAIFER LUG as the connection method – bolts on both sides; it’s not WAIFER LUG but WAFER LUG. Wafer: a disc-shaped piece; Lug: n. a protruding part (rib, terminal, kingpin, sleeve). Last edited by xphqse on 2008-2-17 10:32
It is indeed a spelling error; it should be a butterfly valve with lug-type clamps

WAIFER LUG BUTTERFLY VALVE – yes, it is a wafer-type butterfly valve; however, “WAIFER” should be replaced with “WAFER”. It can’t be found on Baidu, but it’s available on Google.
I’m unable to upload photos in my replies right now, so I’m creating a new post where you can find photos of the double-clamped butterfly valve.
See items 12 and 13 on page P467 of the English-Chinese Illustrated Glossary of Chemical Engineering: wafer (style) butterfly valve – butt-type butterfly valve (thin-plate type); lug (style) butterfly valve – lugged butterfly valve. These are presumably two different types of butterfly valves.
