For a small company, the continuously rising oil prices pose a significant challenge. Our company uses around 5 tons of diesel per day, and the costs have increased considerably compared to previous years. We have tried to reduce steam consumption by cutting down on the number of users who rely on steam, thereby decreasing the frequency at which the boilers need to be started. However, this is not a sustainable solution in the long term. I would appreciate any advice on how to address this issue better, or on what inexpensive alternative to diesel could be used. Recovering the residual heat from flue gas to heat the make-up water in steam boilers has achieved the goal of saving fuel. Brazed plate heat exchangers can be used; these exchangers have a compact structure and low pressure drop on the gas side, which facilitates smooth gas discharge.
I offer two methods: (Assuming your boiler is of low capacity and operates intermittently): 1. Reduce the size of the fuel oil nozzles, decrease the amount of fuel used, and lower the exhaust gas temperature. However, this method also reduces the gas production volume. It may also cause corrosion at the rear of the boiler. 2. Replace with boilers using other fuels. For example: biomass boilers that burn wood, wood chips, straw, etc. (It meets both energy policy requirements and environmental protection standards)
