Due to production needs, our company requires the installation of an additional raw material transfer pump. The conveying medium is a liquid flammable chemical raw material. Transport tank pressure (feed tank): 1.0 MPa~2.0 MPa. Pressure in the transfer tank (reactor): 0.5 MPa to 2.5 MPa. The flow rate is required not to exceed 80 m3/H when the pressure in the raw material tank is 2.0 MPa and the pressure in the reactor is 1.0 MPa. The flow rate shall be no less than 30 m3/H when the pressure in the raw material tank is 1.0 MPa and the pressure in the reactor is 2.0 MPa. In other words, the conveying capacity of the transfer pump cannot be too large nor too small. Which type of transfer pump generally meets such requirements?
Gear pumps are generally used for pumping materials with high viscosity; I’m not sure if this meets the poster’s requirements! In my opinion, a regular shielded pump will be sufficient to meet the original poster’s requirements!
Thank you to the two people above! The viscosity of the raw material is very low, similar to that of water. During transportation, the pressure in the tank being transported rises rapidly, which slows down the flow rate. Is it possible to achieve real-time frequency variation by using an inverter? In other words, it automatically adjusts the rotation speed based on changes in pressure difference to achieve a constant flow rate? The key requirement for selecting a pump for this device is its transfer capacity when the pressure in the tank to be fed is 1.0 MPa higher than the pump’s output pressure; since the original pump has a low outlet pressure, pressure buildup occurs when the pressure in the tank is 2.0 MPa. If variable frequency control is not used, should multi-stage magnetic pumps or multi-stage shielded pumps be considered?
Centrifugal pumps can be considered. Its greatest advantage is that it can provide a continuous and stable flow rate. And it can easily achieve an output pressure of 2.0 MPa.
Adding a variable frequency drive to the centrifugal pump can solve the problem.
