After being extracted from the wellhead, natural gas undergoes heating, throttling, and separation at the gas gathering station before entering a dewatering unit for dehydration. Since natural gas is produced from gas wells along with large amounts of briny formation water, the separators installed at the facility are not able to completely remove the free water from the gas. A significant amount of free water, along with unremoved saturated water, enters the downstream dehydration units. The salts present in this highly mineralized water combine with the desiccant (TEG) to form solid crystalline masses that clog the circulation pipes in the dehydration units, thereby affecting production. The main measure taken in our gas field is to add another separator before entering the dehydration unit to improve water separation, which has achieved some effect. May I ask if there are any other methods to address the blockage of crystalline salts in the dehydration unit?

The common method is to wash it with water and then dehydrate it again! The water to be injected for washing needs to be determined based on the actual conditions
