What is the average net profit per ton of methanol sold in factories these days? For example: Gunzhou Coal Industry, 230 WT? Thank you. Currently, for methanol manufacturers that produce methanol from natural gas and manage their operations properly, the cost is around 1300–1500. The cost for methanol produced from coal is higher, around 1700–2000 or so. Last year, the price of methanol reached over 4,000 at its peak; most of the time it was around 3,000 though (hehe, I’m not entirely sure either). In any case, the profits were quite high. For a plant with a capacity of 100,000 tons, producing 300 tons per day, the profits could reach 300*2000=600,000 per day – that’s astonishing, right? Hehe, we need to work for ten years!

The production cost of methanol can generally be kept around 1,000 to 1,500. Currently, the price of methanol is over 3,000 yuan; after deducting transportation costs, it is estimated to be at least 1,500 yuan per ton. The profitability of producing methanol from coke oven gas might be higher. Of course, such high profits for methanol at the moment are abnormal; they will decline as the market supply and demand reach equilibrium.
