Where is the most appropriate location to take samples for oil analysis in a gas station’s fuel tank?
Sampling behind the oil filter at the gas station is the most reasonable approach!
1. Fundamental solution: Sampling is taken at the bottom of the fuel tank, in the most demanding location, to ensure the high quality of the entire lubricant system from the root level. 2. Surface-level solution: Sampling is done at the oil injection point, in the most practical location, as long as the quality of the oil injected is ensured. I prefer option 1 – what about you?
I support the view from the second floor, but two oil samples should be taken: one taken according to the method suggested on the second floor, and the other sampled from the drain hole at the bottom of the fuel tank. It is necessary to drain the water first; sampling can only be done once clear oil flows out of the drain hole. By then, a comparative analysis of the two oil samples can be conducted, which is the best approach.
They are asking about tank sampling. I think it should be from the bottom; the outlet is at the bottom.

It is recommended to take samples from the drain port at the bottom of the tank, as this ensures representativeness. Taking samples from the pump outlet pipeline can easily cause fluctuations in oil pressure, posing a certain risk; therefore it is not recommended.
Taking a sample from just one location in the tank is not sufficient for oil sample analysis, as oil is stratified and the oil in different layers varies. Generally, samples are taken from the upper, middle, and lower parts respectively for analysis.
