Our company’s saturator has been in use for over a year, and it seems to have developed some problems recently. The pressure of the main mother liquor pump remains relatively stable after acid wash water is added, but once ammonium sulfate crystals appear in the mother liquor, both the outlet pressure of the pump and the motor current experience fluctuations. The pressure fluctuates between 0.2 MPa and 0.3 MPa, while the current fluctuates between 150 A and 200 A; these fluctuations occur roughly every ten seconds. Also, the tar discharge port of the saturator must remain open at all times; otherwise, it will not be possible to discharge any liquid – only gas will come out. The problem with pressure fluctuations is likely to be in the downcomer; it may be that the flow of liquid downward through the downcomer is not smooth. Check the upper and lower mixing pipes.
The tar discharge port must remain open at all times; otherwise, liquid cannot be discharged, probably due to the liquid level in the crystallization chamber not being high enough. The main issue is poor liquid flow down the downcomer; the pump does not have enough pumping power to maintain the liquid level.
But why is there no problem every time acid wash water is added? The above situation occurs only after crystallization takes place

The stirring tube at the bottom of the crystallization chamber is not unobstructed; during pickling, the crystals that accumulate at the bottom of the downcomer dissolve, so this does not affect the liquid level in the crystallization chamber, and therefore there are no pressure fluctuations. After crystals form, they continue to accumulate at the bottom, causing poor flow in the downcomer and resulting in insufficient pumping capacity, which in turn prevents the liquid level from being maintained. Incidentally, the distance between the downcomer and the bottom of the crystallization chamber is usually only 150 MM.
After washing with acid, the downcomer was cleared. Try washing it for a longer time next time~~
