Hey everyone. Now, a corrosion-resistant steel pressure pipeline is selected based on production requirements. Please help everyone. The medium in the pipeline is a mixed solution of approximately 64–70% magnesium nitrate and 1% dilute nitric acid. The temperature is 170~180°C. At atmospheric pressure. Testing C4 steel and various stainless steels yielded unsatisfactory results; leakage occurred after about 3 months. The current idea is to use a steel pipe lined with polytetrafluoroethylene material. I don’t know who has materials or experience in this area. Thank you~~~
Pipes lined with polytetrafluoroethylene can withstand temperatures up to 200°C; if heat resistance is a concern during long-term use, it is recommended to use pipes lined with glass enamel, which offers both heat and corrosion resistance.
Polytetrafluoroethylene becomes very soft at 180 degrees and can no longer be used.
On the 2nd floor... what are the specifications for the materials in this area??
Enameled ones should work, but they are relatively expensive
I think 304 stainless steel and 304L stainless steel are no problem. A nitric acid solution of around 70% as well as 1% nitric acid do not have a strong corrosive effect; unless there is contact with concentrated nitric acid in the process pipelines, which could corrode the stainless steel pipes, but concentrated nitric acid does not reach the production pipelines. C4 steel can withstand corrosion by concentrated nitric acid at low temperatures, but not by dilute nitric acid. The crystallization temperature of 64%–70% magnesium nitrate is around 70 degrees Celsius; below this temperature, crystallization occurs, which is why C4 steel is not resistant to corrosion.
I wonder if the original poster has tried 316L stainless steel; this material is considered one of the highest quality grades among stainless steels. Additionally, ceramic-lined pipelines are a good choice, as they are resistant to heat and corrosion. Carbon steel pipelines lined with latex cement could also be considered. Polytetrafluoroethylene lining does tend to soften and peel off at operating temperatures; however, some manufacturers claim that adding temperature-resistant additives resolves this issue. You may want to consult Zhongda Group (a company based in Dezhou).
