During distillation operations, the trays may fall off for various reasons, which leads to a deterioration in the distillation efficiency; this is especially true in complex towers such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation towers, and it can result in substandard products. How can we determine it? (1) It is possible to conduct a boiling range test on defective products: the gap at the 5–95% points should be about 15 degrees smaller than that in normal conditions. (2) It is possible to check the pressure drop between the suspect trays; it should be lower than under normal conditions. Please add more!
