I found that there are two ways to write the heat affected zone: hot affected zone and heat affected zone; literally, both are acceptable. But which one is more accurate?
The “heat” here should be understood as the noun “heat,” not the adjective “hot.”
HAZ=heat affected zone
Heat affected zone – this would be more accurate
Both are useful; in standard terminology, the term that appears more often is heat affected zone, abbreviated as HAZ. In some literature, it is also referred to as hot affected zone.
