The first national examination for registration as environmental protection engineers was held on September 22–23, 2007, and the marking of the exams was completed by the end of January 2008. In accordance with the syllabus for the registration examination for environmental protection engineers and relevant regulations, the basic examination for this qualification is entirely scored using computers, while the specialized examinations combine computer-based scoring with manual reevaluation. The papers subject to manual reevaluation are those that have met the passing standards in both the professional knowledge exam and the professional case study exam. 　　 　　In accordance with the provisions of the Notice issued by the General Offices of the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Construction regarding the criteria for passing the 2007 examination for registered engineering consultants in surveying and design (Guo Ren Ting Fa [2007] No. 202), the passing score for the basic examination for registered environmental protection engineers in 2007 was 132 points (with a total score of 240 points for the exam) ； The passing score for the professional knowledge exam is 120 points (with a total score of 200 points for the exam), while the passing score for the professional case study exam is 60 points (with a total score of 100 points for the exam). 　　 　　In 2007, a total of 4,917 people from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps across the country registered for the basic examination for the qualification of certified environmental engineers, with 1,267 people passing this basic examination ； A total of 2,209 people registered for the professional examination for certified environmental engineers, and 514 passed the examination. 　　 　　The exam results have been gradually released to the public by the local personnel examination centers (examination boards) in recent days; candidates can check their specific scores on the websites of these local personnel examination agencies.
