Nonsense? This is by no means nonsense. Nowadays, many chlor-alkali plants do not replace the membranes frequently during regular maintenance; usually, no leak testing is carried out at all. If you don’t believe it, you can investigate for yourself; I guess you don’t know much about this topic.

If a membrane leak does occur after the system is in operation, it not only requires stopping the machine to replace the membrane, thereby disrupting its operation, but it can also cause corrosion to the electrode grids of the electrolyzer, affecting their performance.
