The same IP address must not rate each other, for any reason. Different views on this perspective: (1) How to determine whether it is the same address? For example, my company is a group corporation; the machines in 37 factories across the country are all connected through one agent, and they all display the same IP address. In such a situation, how can the evaluator tell that the entities being evaluated belong to the same address? ? Unless the scorer is given permission to see the IP address. (2) Personally, I believe that the basis for scoring is the quality of the poster’s post, not the address issue; if one wants to boost their score, they can simply switch to another machine or redial via ADSL, as IP addresses are assigned dynamically anyway. (3) Any attempt to artificially boost scores will result in severe penalties once detected; rewarding those who report such behavior is the proper approach, while restricting addresses is not a wise move.
This is the only way it can be formulated; in practice, adjustments can be made if such disputes arise. The main purpose is to prohibit score manipulation
In my understanding, as a forum, it is necessary to establish such rules; the purpose of these rules is to prevent malicious score manipulation. Although there may be various problems as mentioned by the original poster, as long as those responsible for enforcing the rules (the moderators) handle such issues properly, they won’t be a problem at all; the moderators also take things into consideration when applying the rules in their management work. A system is necessary, but idealized rules do not exist; as long as the implementation is handled properly and its shortcomings are addressed, the forum rules can become more reasonable and better serve its members.
I support the view from the first floor. Our group has over 1,000 machines, with around 200 in the branch offices; these all represent one IP address from an external perspective. So what should we do?
The key question is how do we know it’s the same IP? It’s not practical to use an IP card every time, right? Actually, score-boosting behavior should be detectable, isn’t it? Ignoring it once or twice is no big deal! The administrators don’t have time to check on you either; only frequent mutual evaluations will draw attention. If it turns out that the actions come from the same IP address, then stricter penalties will be imposed!
I fully agree with what the original poster mentioned. The reason for bringing this up in the forum is to prevent score manipulation; in my opinion, it’s acceptable if scores from the same IP address are reasonable, as long as there is no illegal attempt to manipulate scores

To be honest, we have this concern as well; my wife doesn’t even dare to post in the methanol forum for fear of being rated by other colleagues. However, we understand the moderators’ approach. Of course, showing the IP address is just one method – if a rating is given, moderators should allow an opportunity for explanation and examine the quality of the post as well as the rating history, in order to determine whether the rating was given maliciously
