How can one determine whether the compensation wire is of satisfactory quality? How can one determine the model of a compensation wire as well as its positive and negative poles when the model is unknown? This post was last edited by coolmole on 2008-2-21 09:05]
In my opinion, it’s generally possible to tell by color: if the compensation wire is white, then white usually indicates the negative pole.
Short-circuit one end of the compensation wire and heat it; measure the voltage at the other end – a positive voltage indicates the positive end, while a negative voltage indicates the negative end.

Thank you to lsp105 for the data provided; it turns out that the negative colors of different compensation wires are different.
