For the condensate control in the reboiler, why is it specified that the vertical distance between the flow orifice plate and the reboiler must be greater than 1500 mm?
The installation requirements for orifice plates specify a straight pipe section of at least 10D in front and 5D behind. D is the pipe diameter.
I also want to see the experts' answers. I venture to guess: is it this height that ensures the medium measured at the orifice plate is free of vapor-liquid phases, thereby ensuring measurement accuracy?

Possible reasons: 1. Ensure the fluid is in the liquid phase. 2. Ensure a fluid head of 1500 mm water column to increase the pressure difference before and after the fluid passes through the orifice plate, thereby ensuring measurement accuracy.
The vertical distance between the flow orifice plate and the reboiler must be greater than 1500 mm. The reason for this is as follows: the pressure drop across the flow orifice plate is generally around 10 kPa. If the vertical distance between the orifice plate and the bottom of the reboiler is small, then the liquid level of the condensate in the reboiler must be above 1000 mm in order for the condensate to flow out through the orifice plate. However, a high liquid level of condensate in the reboiler reduces the heat transfer coefficient, which results in insufficient area for the reboiler. Therefore, the vertical distance between the flow orifice plate and the reboiler must be greater than 1500 mm!
