For a packed tower with a packing height of 10 meters, what is the total height of this tower, including the packing bed, distributor, and demister?
The packing tower used in our factory has a total height of 8 meters, with the packing divided into two layers totaling 5 meters.
The skirt, distributor, and demister seem to be selected according to standards, depending on the diameter of your packed tower, right? And when calculating the height of the entire tower, the base can be ignored... because the base isn’t in direct contact with the ground; there is a certain distance between it and the ground... If I remember correctly, that’s how it is...
It is related to the tower diameter. Based on a diameter of 1m, the 10m of packing should be divided into two layers; thus, the top layer of packing is about 2m away from the top of the tower, with a distributor spacing of 1m between layers, 1.5m at the bottom, and 0.5m for the skirt – totaling around 15m.
With a net height of the packing of 10 meters, the diameter of the tower is generally between 0.8 and 1.0 meters. To account for the impact of liquid convergence on the separation efficiency, the packing should be installed in three to four sections. The height of the tower is estimated to be 18–20 meters.
