Does anyone know anything about sealed silicone grease – what are its properties, uses, and price?
Features: Made of 99.8% high-purity micronized silver; 78–82% of its composition is silver. Wide operating temperature range: –40 to >160°C. Thermal conductivity: 8.4 W/m°K (Hot Wire Method per MIL-C-47113). Thermal resistance: 0.0028°C-in2/Watt (for a thickness of 0.001 inches)
What was mentioned upstairs can be found online, but I’d like to know some more practical information. We have a small device, and basically all of its components are made of plastic. Now, considering disassembly and maintenance, the threaded connections between certain components or between those components and the outlet pipes don’t seal properly; using ordinary Vaseline only results in the seal failing after some time.
I’m not sure if what the original poster is referring to is that kind of vacuum silicone ester. In my experiments, I applied it to the fused joints of some glass instruments in the apparatus due to vacuum pumping. Of course, its main function is to provide sealing (and of course, its stable chemical properties, oxidation resistance, low volatility, and corrosion resistance are also prerequisites for its use). Its price wasn’t very high; I remember that a box of that size, similar to a small makeup case, cost around 20 yuan at the time. However, the oil ester is quite viscous, which makes it quite durable. Just be careful that it will melt a bit at high temperatures (the temperature I used in my experiments was 170 degrees; over time the ester will degrade, and I haven’t tried higher temperatures – you can use this as a reference). Make sure it doesn’t contaminate your product. Additionally, if this sealing ester is applied to the connections of the vacuum pumping device, the vacuum effect will, over time, draw the ester from those connections into the container. White small particles can be seen at the connection points; it is best to use glass tubes to extend the connections so that the sealing ester does not fall directly into the container, thereby ensuring the quality of the product. Thank you for the reply from above; we use a vacuum chlorination system. If the sealing isn’t good, one can imagine what will happen – the system temperature generally isn’t high
