When creating CAD drawings, it is sometimes necessary to scale a shape (such as a square with a side length of 0.3) – that is, to enlarge it to a square with a side length of 1. How should one use the scaling tool to do this? :handshake
Scaling can only be done proportionally; otherwise, it can only serve as a guide line
The poster can set the scaling factor to 3.3333333333333---- and that will do.
Just use the SC (SCALE) command and enter 10/3 when prompted to enter the ratio
The answer on floor 4 to this question is correct; I’d like to add something that might be useful for the original poster: the use of the calculator via Ctrl+8. For example, in problems where you need to enter ratios, use Ctrl+8 to bring up the calculator, enter 1/0.3, and then click ‘Apply’. The calculator will display 3.33333, and this value is actually very accurate when used as a result.
Everything mentioned above is correct; absolute “precision” cannot be achieved.
