Do pressure gauges used for on-site indication need to be calibrated once a year? Is this mandatory? In previous companies, various tasks related to instrument management were handled by the process engineering department on-site, but in today’s companies, all instruments are managed by the instrument engineering department, so it’s a bit confusing. I hope everyone can offer guidance.
In principle, it should be verified once per production cycle; it is best to do so every six months, with a minimum of once a year.
Meters such as pressure gauges used in pressure vessels, which are related to safety, are metering devices subject to mandatory calibration, with a calibration cycle of half a year. Devices that are not subject to mandatory calibration can have their calibration intervals determined based on factors such as usage conditions (environment, operating conditions, importance of the indicated parameters), but these intervals generally should not exceed three times the mandatory calibration period.
Depending on the purpose of the pressure gauge, those used in critical applications are required to undergo mandatory inspection, as stipulated by the Metrology Law. They are generally classified into three categories: A, B, and C, and instruments that require mandatory inspection must be sent to the Technical Supervision Bureau for verification. If your organization has a very large number of instruments, you can apply for calibration qualifications; however, only instruments of categories B and C can be calibrated in this way, while those of category A still need to be sent to the Technical Supervision Bureau for calibration.

The pressure gauges in our company are generally calibrated every six months (internal calibration), and the same applies to the pressure gauges on pressure vessels, though those require external calibration.
Pressure gauges have different management levels, and thus different calibration cycles; generally, pressure gauges are used once only.
