Specific goals of China’s medium- to long-term development plan for renewable energy: China has recently announced a medium- to long-term development plan for renewable energy, setting the goal that by 2020, renewable energy will account for 15% of total energy consumption. The national utilization of renewable energy will be equivalent to 600 million tons of standard coal. The annual utilization volume of biogas is to reach 44 billion cubic meters, while the annual consumption of biofuel ethanol and biodiesel is to reach 12 million tons. The total capacity for solar power generation is to reach 1.8 million kilowatts, and the total collecting area of solar water heaters is to reach 300 million square meters. In addition, there are also sources of energy such as ocean energy and geothermal energy.
