Same question? Given the promising prospects for dimethyl ether, I would like to get involved in this product, but I’m not sure what requirements exist regarding storage and transportation :)

The storage and transportation conditions for dimethyl ether should be based on those for LPG; the storage capacity might need to be higher than that for LPG, after all, the sales channels for LPG are relatively stable.
It seems that currently, the information related to dimethyl ether storage mainly relies on references to LPG!

Dimethyl ether, with properties similar to liquefied petroleum gas, can currently be added to liquefied petroleum gas for use as a fuel gas. The common storage method is storage in pressurized spherical tanks, in liquid form. For this, relevant specifications can be referred to. For storage and transportation, a centrifugal pump + pipelines + tank trucks are generally used. There shouldn’t be any technical issues with the storage and transportation of dimethyl ether at present, right?:lol
Also, there are no issues with transporting dimethyl ether through pipelines. Isn’t natural gas also transported via pipelines?
Bosses, could someone tell me which methanol plants with a production capacity of 200,000 tons or more that are currently in operation and selling products in China use coal, coalbed methane, or methanol as their feedstock? It’s best not to confuse them with intermediate products used in MTO or MTP processes. By knowing this, we can determine the actual volume of dimethyl ether produced and how it should be sold. Who can tell me that those weighing over 10,000 tons are not sold mixed with LPG? I really want to know and learn about it.

The storage and transportation processes for dimethyl ether are the same as those for LPG, as the two have very similar properties; in other words, they are mutually soluble in certain proportions. The storage and transportation methods used in our facility are therefore the same as those for LPG, for your reference.
