Which student has practical experience with using rotary blowers to transport acetylene, and what is the safety aspect like? Can it be used for acetylene circulation in vinyl acetate production?
I’ve only used gas for transportation; acetylene should be similar to it, right? The pressure should not be too high; our Roots blower is used to extract gas. If using it, use an explosion-proof version!
Is the maintenance rate high? Does it matter if there is liquid in the gas phase?
It operates well continuously, with low maintenance costs; the main issue is that it’s difficult to handle during disassembly and assembly. It has excellent sealing properties; a small amount of liquid in the gas phase doesn’t have much impact. The only drawback is that it’s too noisy!
Silencers are installed for both import and export models; 85 decibels should be no problem. The three major drawbacks of these models are high power consumption, high noise levels, and difficulty in maintenance – to carry out maintenance, the original manufacturer’s personnel are generally required, otherwise it’s hard to restore the accuracy

In the synthesis process using the calcium carbide-acetylene method, rotary vane blowers are currently used in China for acetylene supply. The required inlet pressure is around 5 kPa, while the outlet pressure is approximately 85 kPa. The air volume depends on the requirements of the manufacturing process. The main manufacturers in China are Chengdu Hangfa Blower Factory in Sichuan and Zhangqiu Blower Factory; personally, I think the products of Zhangqiu Blower Factory are of better quality, as it utilizes technology imported from Japan. After all, the process for synthesizing acetic acid via the calcium carbide-acetylene method was originally introduced by Japan.
