My friend’s company has an ethylene project; the company is based abroad and wants to have some of the pressure vessel manufacturing carried out in China. At the same time, it hopes to purchase the steel plates, pipes, and related materials needed for these pressure vessels from domestic steel mills. I would like to ask which steel mills in China produce ASME-standard (or domestically standard equivalents to ASME) steel, and those with leading quality in the country The steel products currently needed include: (1) steel plates (carbon steel and stainless steel); (2) cladding steel; (3) forged steel; (4) stainless steel pipes; (5) tubes. Those who are familiar with the steel industry and its products are requested to recommend suppliers for these types of products. Thank you. This post was last edited by zzg5680 on 2009-1-7 15:53]
Currently, purchasing ASME-compliant materials in China is no longer a problem. 1) Carbon steel: It can be produced by several major steel mills. However, the ASME-standard carbon steel materials (plates for pressure vessels) produced by Wuyang Steel Mill are the best! Stainless steel: Both Baosteel and Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group can produce it, but these companies are very powerful and specify their own enterprise standards in contracts, which are slightly lower than ASME standards. Therefore, it is recommended to use imported stainless steel plates for such purchases. Domestic options can be considered only if delivery times or prices are a concern, but more attention will need to be paid to quality control issues. 2) Cladding steel: I think the translation for this term needs to be reconsidered; it should probably be referred to as composite steel (cladding plates are composite sheets, while cladding pipes are composite tubes). Such materials are usually made of steel/steel composites or other non-ferrous metals combined with steel. The key issue here is ensuring that the raw materials meet ASME standards, and the production/inspection of these composite materials must comply with ASME A263/264 (for steel/steel composites) and ASME B898 (for composites of refractory metals and steel). 3) Forged steel (forgings): ASME-standard materials are now produced in large quantities in China, mainly in regions like Jiangsu and Shanghai. Companies such as Jiangyin Hengye, Wuxi Flange, Huaxi Flange, and Taixing Yuelong Accessories produce mainly carbon steel and stainless steel products. Jiangyin Hengye offers a wide range of stainless steel products, while Taixing Yuelong specializes in non-ferrous metal products. For large-scale forgings, China National First Heavy Machinery Corporation, China National Second Heavy Machinery Corporation, and Shanghai Heavy Machinery Industry Corporation are the best choices. 4) Steel pipes (TUBE refers to heat exchange tubes, while PIPE refers to pipes for transporting fluids). There are many manufacturers in this field, such as Zhejiang Huadi Steel Industry, Zhejiang Jiuli Steel Industry, Shanghai Steel Group, and Changshu Huaxin. There are also many manufacturers of welded pipes. However, I know that some materials used in ethylene projects are not produced in China, such as alloy 20 (N08020). I have ten years of experience in supplying and manufacturing materials for export equipment. If you’d like to discuss this further, feel free to send me an email at baoseti@sohu.com. 4)
Thank you very much; it’s been of great help.
Thank you for the advice; I’ve learned a lot.
