Why are asbestos pads no longer allowed to be used?

I learned from this forum that asbestos gaskets are no longer allowed to be used. Why is that? Isn’t it widely used in soda pipes?
In the past, asbestos gaskets were used in many areas of the company, and they were quite good. These days, in this industry, whether it’s gaskets or asbestos boards available on the market, their quality is very poor; leaks occur through these gaskets

It is not allowed to be used in certain situations, such as in insulation materials; asbestos can easily turn into dust, which may cause diseases like lung cancer. . Some gaskets seem to be usable for now
