I had just graduated from school and started working at a company that has been producing urea from natural gas for over 30 years. Upon arriving at the factory, I received safety training; after that, I was assigned to a workshop where more safety training was provided. Once I was part of a specific team, I began to learn about the production processes and daily maintenance tasks. The work involved five shifts per week, with no concept of Sundays at all. A year passed in this manner, during which I spent every day learning how to carry out the operations and maintenance tasks. Later, when I moved to a newly established factory, I realized that it was necessary to take into account many design standards and specifications. Before then, I had never paid attention to issues such as how to choose the right materials for flanges. I wonder if other professionals in this field feel the same way

The responsibilities of a technician and those of an operator differ in focus. Of course, a good technician should also be an excellent operator; without any experience in operation, one might give incorrect instructions. Technicians are required to have depth and breadth of knowledge, while operators tend to acquire only superficial knowledge
To be a competent technician means being not only an operator who can handle accidents effectively, but also someone who is capable of carrying out material and energy balance calculations for the entire process, as well as addressing requirements related to technical upgrades. This requires time spent on exploration and reflection, and I will keep working hard at it
