Non-destructive testing and pressure vessels: What is the difference between testing pressure vessels and pressure pipelines? Which is more important, and which direction should development take?
The constraints specified in the original poster’s question are too absurd; ultrasound, magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing, radiography, and so on are only part of the inspection processes – how can they replace other types of testing? Such as composition, inclusions, mechanical properties, corrosion, pressure testing, and so on. So when you raise your question, it’s best to specify the constraints accurately, so that there can be a comparison. As for those that are important, I think everyone is important, because anyone who doesn’t meet the standards has to be discarded! Of course, it is possible to distinguish importance from the perspective of actual operating conditions, but this requires analysis on a case-by-case basis.
