The desulfurized dry gas compression unit at Jiujiang Petrochemical was put into operation. As part of the key technical renovation project for Jiujiang Petrochemical’s refining facilities, a new desulfurized dry gas compression unit was added to the 1.2 million tons per year hydrogenation plant; after two months of installation and construction, it was successfully brought online in a single attempt. The operation of the desulfurized dry gas compressor unit eliminated bottlenecks in production, enabled clean energy production, and achieved good energy-saving results as well as economic benefits. Catalytic cracking refineries generate large amounts of dry gas during the processing of crude oil, which has long been used as fuel for heating furnaces and power boilers in refineries, or discharged through flares. Moreover, the dry gas contains hydrogen of high purity, resulting in resource waste and underutilization. To achieve the best overall economic benefits with limited resources, Jiujiang Petrochemical actively adopts and promotes new energy-saving and consumption-reducing technologies and processes. It assigns technical personnel to work on improving these technologies, continuously optimizing and refining the production processes of its refining units. A set of desulfurization dry gas compression units was added to the 1.2 million tons per year hydrogenation unit at the No. 2 complex; these are symmetrically balanced compressors that feature oil-free lubrication and operation with minimal oil usage. After desulfurization of the dry gas generated during the crude oil processing in the refinery unit, it is pressurized by a dry gas compression unit and sent to the PSA unit for hydrogen purification. The PSA unit at this plant utilizes energy-efficient gas separation technology to remove various impurities from mixed gases, thereby producing high-purity hydrogen in a single step. This allows for the effective recovery and utilization of hydrogen resources present in the plant’s refinery off-gases, alleviating the shortage of hydrogen resources there and reducing production costs effectively, which in turn improves the overall economic efficiency of Jiujiang Petrochemical.
