For our factory, the team leader is not only responsible for ensuring proper production and maintenance as well as managing the team effectively, but also must promptly address any issues related to the well-being and mental state of the team members. When the supervisor is absent, the team leader takes on his role; they are essentially the supervisor during those eight hours, and must handle any problems that arise right away. However, in a large chemical plant I worked at, I saw team leaders who were only concerned with certain aspects related to the workers in their teams, without paying attention to production processes. For example, one day there was a leak in a unit used for low-temperature methanol washing; the team leader wasn’t aware of it and asked the shift supervisor to show him where it was. In our factory, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. If you want to be a team leader, you need to have comprehensive technical skills, rather than focusing only on managing people while ignoring operational matters. Otherwise, in case of an incident, you won’t know how to coordinate things properly Fellow colleagues, is this how management works in your factory?
