Our factory has a styrene storage tank. In accordance with the company’s safety requirements, this tank is equipped with an oxygen-poor air (5% oxygen content) balancing system to ensure that the oxygen level inside the tank does not exceed safe limits, thereby providing inert gas protection. The so-called balanced system consists of intake and exhaust pipelines; when the pressure in the storage tank exceeds 10 mbar, the exhaust control valve opens, and when it is below 10 mbar, the intake valve opens. The two control valves are used for proportional control. Due to the volatilization of styrene and its tendency to self-polymerize, the exhaust pipelines of storage tanks often become blocked. Of course, there are low-point discharge outlets on the exhaust pipeline, but the production staff do not discharge it frequently. Do anyone have any good suggestions? ?
Thicken the exhaust pipeline, add a low-temperature condensation device for exhaust gases to reduce volatilization
Are the styrene storage tanks at your company equipped with internal floating roofs? Is pure nitrogen used for sealing?
Personally, I think it would be sufficient to use a single pipe for both the inlet and outlet air... But this might require changes to the entire system; I’m not sure about the specifics. Another option could be to lower the temperature inside the storage tank to reduce the evaporation of styrene... If that doesn’t work, a condenser can be added before the air exits... That’s about all I can think of... These are just my personal opinions; please point out any mistakes if there are any... Thank you
