Let’s discuss what typically a process designer is responsible for and what the specific procedures are
Not necessarily; it depends on the design institute. In our institute, process design and piping work are handled by the same person. Process design involves determining the layout of equipment and handling piping tasks, as well as requiring knowledge of other related fields.
It actually depends on where – whether it’s in a design institute or elsewhere. I currently work at a company that manufactures electrolyzers; in addition to selling these devices, we also provide technical support. We need to conduct a preliminary audit of the process – the process is the key element in any project; everything else comes after that. Only once the process is determined can we proceed with aspects such as piping, instrumentation, and electrical systems. The scope of the process is quite broad; I think it covers more areas compared to piping and instrumentation. If one has a good understanding of the process, it’s possible to extend knowledge to various other areas such as instrumentation and piping equipment, but it’s more difficult otherwise.
All specialties seem to need it; the order is process-system-equipment, electrical, instrumentation-layout-piping-structure, and architecture
I am currently creating a single-pipe diagram for a set of equipment; the overall layout diagram is already available. What data should be included primarily in the single-pipe diagram?
