How is the water circulation volume calculated for nitrogen and hydrogen compressors used in ammonia synthesis?
It is possible to calculate the heat effect of adiabatic compression for each section of gas; when doing this calculation, the heat of condensation of water vapor in the gas must be taken into account. By adding up these values, the total heat load can be determined. Based on the designed temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the cooling water, the total amount of water required can then be calculated. The calculated results can be compared with the cooling water volume required under the same load for other models of nitrogen-hydrogen compressors.

There is no problem using PROII for calculations; it works perfectly fine. But it should be noted that: 1. The simulation process is merely a simulation, and many settings are based on ideal conditions. 2. The key to calculation is to choose the appropriate thermodynamic method. 3. After the calculation, it should be compared with values similar to those of actual compressors. This value can be obtained from the manufacturer.
Why is it so difficult? First, calculate the enthalpy difference between the inlet and outlet of the compressor; then subtract this enthalpy value from the electrical power consumed by the compressor – isn’t that the amount of heat that the cooling water needs to remove? ! ! ! Be careful with the unit conversion between power and energy when calculating.
Your algorithm is still quite complicated; you still need to look up the enthalpy values of hydrogen and nitrogen. It’s worth giving it a try, though there might be significant errors
